Notes from 5/10 mtg:

Possibility of HS group joining w/MS group to be a subcommittee of BCLA, considering the IU doesn't recognize us as we presently exist.
It would also "legitimize" us and guarantee ACT 48 approval.

Those in attendance are in support of becoming a subcommittee of BCLA.
Their steering committee already have approved having us join.

It would be helpful if members of the HS librarians' group would join the BCLA. Numbers in BCLA are down.

Resource Sharing

Pennridge shared a successful library event at the HS. Lisa does a daily trivia contest everyday for National Library Week. Students and faculty participated daily & were enthusiastic about the contests & prizes awarded. Lisa included sample questions and decoration ideas.

Colleen from CB West handed out a sample book review form that she distributed to English teachers and asked that their students write a review for summer reading books. When she sells the summer reading books in the library, she encourages students to read the student reviews that Colleen posted on the West Library website. Students can also complete a review form online and will be recording podcasts in the future.

Colleen also handed out a sample of the West Library newsletter which is also posted online. Good feedback came in from students and faculty on the newsletter.

Noreen handed out an 8-9 day lesson plan on a fish-kill issue that she did with one of her ChemCom teachers. Student research focuses on what caused the problem, who is at fault, and who should pay. The end result of the assignment is a mock town meeting where they have to take a position and present it before the Town Council.
